FTPVoyager Scheduler does not seem to connect or respect any profile config

Hi there,

I have been referred here for support.

I have been required to upgrade our FTP Voyager software so that we can support scheduled downloads from a customer who uses public key authentication.  This works perfectly in the FTP Voyager GUI, but whenever the scheduler tries to connect, it fails stating that the password is not valid.

Please advise.

Hi

I am able to upload files to a remote destimation but there is

a problem downloading.

For example, when I donwload a csv, it downloads the

size.

Do you know what would be causing this please?

FTP Scheduler stopped working - could not retrieve additional information about remote path errors

I've had FTP Voyager and FTP Scheduler installed for many years.

On 11/2/2012 the scheduler stopped running nightly backups and now only generates errors when manually executing the jobs.

"Could not retrieve additional information about the local path. Please make sure the path exists and the local user has permissions".

This system has been setup for years and has not changed. The FTP Voyager can manually connect to the profile and I can download files from the server manually without problems.

The only major change to the system were recent FTP software upgrades and patches.

I've double checked the FTP Scheduler Profiles (which never changed passwords in the first place).

I've added a brand new FTP folder with new login password to the server which connects in FTP Voyager, but generates the same errors when manually executing a synch job in FTPV Scheduler.

And I've tried restarting the FTP Voyager Scheduler service and rebooting.

Also nothing has changed on the server and all the files and folders have full read/write access (and can be copied down manually from the FTP Voyager).

Its only when executing the job from within FTP Scheduler that it now fails with these messages and it started around 11/2/12.  But I can't recall on what dates I applied the FTP software patches and upgrades.

email settings in Scheduler and Voyager

We recently replaced our server and had to move FTP Voyager. We took a backup copy of the files as outlined in the article http://www.serv-u.com/kb/1189/how-to-back-up-and-restore-ftp-voyager . We did a new install of FTPVoyager v 16.1.0 and reinstalled the backup files onto the new server.

We have now discovered after much head scratching and lost hours, that the email settings relating to SMTP server, and the sending address (From) are not being correctly maintained. We tried to update the SMTP setttings in the GUI (both in Scheduler and in Voyager) but they are not used when Scheduler runs an Event that requires email. Instead, it appears to use the ones in the FTPVoyagerSettings.Archive file.

In order to change the SMTP server name and the "From" entry we now have to do this by hacking the FTPVoyagerSettings.Archive file rather than via the GUI.

Is this a known bug? Is there anything we can do to get the parameters set in the GUI of Voyager and Scheduler to be retained and used?

Also, whilst asking questions in this area, why are there 2 interfaces for email settings under Tools - one in Options and one in Scheduler options. These seem to be independent as we can put different values in each which are retained between sessions- both of which are ignored(!) in favour of those in FTPVoyagerSettings.Archive file.  I have been unable to track down where the GUI values are actually stored.

A right dog's breakfast.

Email Settings and Scheduler Profiles

We are evaluating FTP Voyager for automating file transfers between sites with SSL. There are two worrisome issues:

  1. Email reporting is failing. I am receiving an error in the Scheduler log stating the following:
    1. [04] Wed 31Dec14 13:43:30 - EVENT ERROR: Unable to send message to 'Test_email_Address': Unable to connect to SMTP server  on port 25.
    2. Our SMTP server is functioning with other services from this same server.
    3. I have input the SMTP information into both the FTP Voyager Options and the Scheduler Options.
    4. I have also checked the configuration files called out in another thread here and see our SMTP information correctly.
  2. I cannot create Scheduler Site Profiles directly.
    1. I have to create them in the FTP Voyager Site Profile First and then right click and select 'Copy to Scheduler'
    2. If I create them in the Scheduler Site Profile directly, none of the advanced features apply correctly and the profile will not connect to the SSL site.

I believe the two issues may be related.  Issue number 2 is an annoyance but not a show stopper. Issue number 1 on the other hand is preventing me from completing my proof of concept and integration into monitoring.

The scheduler service is running as a domain user with full rights to the server it's running on.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I can provide log files, screen shots, etc. if required.

Thanks,

File not found when downloading

I'm having a strange problem I am hoping to find some help on. When I connect to a remote site, I am able to see the files in the list. The files are preceded by a / such as /Test.txt. When I try to download the files, I am receiving the error SSH_FXP_STATUS: status: SSH_FX_NO_SUCH_FILE; description: File not found. From what I can tell, if I upload a file and it does not have the preceding /, I can manipulate the file as needed. i.e. Rename, Download, Delete. Once I put the preceding / in the filename, I can do nothing with it.

Also, I can use WinSCP or FileZilla and the preceding / does not show up and I can do whatever I need with the files. This is the only site that I am having this problem with.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

FTP Voyager and email alerts

Hello, I've scoured this site as well as the web looking for an answer to my Voyager email challenges.

I really like the program and in fact it seems to work very well for what I'm doing; however, I cannot make the email alerts function at all.

I have ensured the following:

1) email settings are proper in the Options area

2) email setting match the Option email settings in the "Scheduler Options" area

3) Tried both a gmail account and yahoo.  The gmail refuses to work always timing out regardless.  The yahoo account never errors out but then emails are never received, which is confusing.

4) Tried on two different systems connected to unique networks

Current Scheduler email settings in options:

Server:  smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Port: 465

Use SSL: YES

USE Authentication: YES

Account Name: full email address

Account Password: proper password

Email settings in OPTIONS area are essentially the same.

EVENT setup in the TASK:  Execution START as well as the EVENT SCHEDULE area.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

brian

Move file after upload automatically

$

I have a situation where I will FTP a file to a folder and then need to move it to another folder on the remote server. I have seen the automatic rename function and have tried testing this on my own network but it does not appear that I can rename a file where I can specify a file path in the automatic rename function. I would have to do this automatically through the scheduler.

FTP Voyager Scheduler Hangs

We are using the scheduler to move files to a customer ftp server. The process just moves files, nothing else. Currently the task will run but hang, when we check the customer ftp server we can see files are transferred. But there is always zero length files. I assume these are the placeholder of the file to be transferred. Process will just hang after 5 or 6 files and the files that are transferred are not deleting from home directory. The files are only 2kb each so I can't imagine file size being the problem.

Is there a queue size limit on number of files that can be transferred? We have sometimes up to a thousand files that will need to be moved. Also does the process only delete after it has completed? We have seen it complete once or twice with about 40 files, but that is so random we can't call it an actual successful test.

Thanks

FTP Voyager Scheduler Hangs - Service Restart Required

$

I want to use FTP Voyager to upload data on a regular schedule from remote sites to my FTP server.  The application checks all of the boxes for what I need it to do: Upload all files in a folder, do some XCRC/XMD5/XSHA1, and then delete the local files after successful upload.  My problem is that the scheduled task seems to never complete sometimes and we stop receiving files.

The Internet connections for most of our locations frequently drop.  It seems this might have something to do with the problem.  My oldest installation has been running reliably since July and has a solid connection.  The scheduler hangs most frequently on sites with the worst connectivity issues.

I have implemented a klugey work-around by scheduling a task that restarts the Voyager scheduler service.  This keeps the problem from manifesting and we receive our files.

I set the following scheduler options:

  • connection timeout = 90
  • connection retries = 9
  • connection delay = 3
  • transfer send timeout = 90
  • transfer idle timeout = 5
  • file transfer upload file tries = 10

Scheduled task creation:

  1. I create a scheduled task that runs every 15 minutes.
  2. Add an action to run an external program.  This executes a batch file that moves files into a staging folder for the FTP transfer.
  3. Add a second action to synchronize remote folders.  This moves the files up to our FTP server.
    1. I add an event to this action that runs a batch file after upload.  The batch file is there to delete the uploaded file and is passed, "$LocalPath", as an argument.

This setup works perfectly well in my lab and at the site with the consistent Internet connection.  Other locations have been seen to work for days and even weeks, but eventually the scheduled task hangs until the scheduler service is restarted.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FTP Voyager Scheduler Task will not stop executing

Hello,

I have setup a FTP Voyager Scheduled Task that will not executing.  The task is setup to reach out to a FTP to move down any available files and also move up any new files that have been created locally.

When the task is scheduled, it will not stop executing and no available files are pulled down from the FTP or moved up to the FTP site.

Any help is appreciated.

Voyager Scheduler Running External Program

I have a batch file that runs to generate a file that I want to then FTP out to a remote site.  I can run the batch file from windows explorer and it works fine and generates the file.  When I try to add it to the scheduler and have it run it does not execute the batch file as the login of the service account on the scheduler, but rather the login from the remote site.  I know I am probably missing something.  Any help would be much appreciated.

FTP Voyager - Scheduler getting Bad Message Error

We are FTPing to one of our clients and using FTP Voyager using SSH2 port 10022. They don't allow us to see anything in the directory they just allow us to push files. I can manually push the file using the FTP Voyager interface manually however when I use the scheduler it errors out with the following message.  There must be a setting that I am not changing to get this error but I am not seeing it.  Any help would be appreciated.

Home directory not accessible

Hello,

I'm having trouble with this configuration. . .

Windows Server 2008R2 + Voyager 16.0.2.0 + FTP over TLS (implicit) + PASV + connection to Serv-U v6.4

I get this error is in the log:

COMMAND> PASV

227 Entering Passive Mode (70,89,1xx,1xx,7,209)     <== Note, this is the Serv-U IP address.

"ERROR> The home directory specified for this account on the remote server is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator for further assistance."

Things I've tested. . .

This works great (home directory displays, but not for Serv-U):

Windows Server 2008R2 + Voyager 16.0.2.0 + SFTP + PASV + connection to non-Serv-U servers

. . .and this works (home directory displays on Serv-U but using an older version of Voyager + Win7 instead of 2008R2):

Windows7 + Voyager 16.0.1.1 + FTP over TLS (implicit) + PASV + connection to Serv-U v6.4

I'm not using the Scheduler "as service" to do this testing - just the Voyager UI. I'm thinking I should try loading 16.0.1.1 on the 2008R2 server but hesitate because I'm afraid it could screw up the Scheduler that is running other jobs.

Any one have similar experience?

Thanks.

Doug

FTP Voyager Scheduler - Run External Program and Exit Codes

$

We have created a task that has several actions.  We would like the to get notified when a "Run External Program" task fails.  I have configured the action's "Task Execution Failure" event to notify us when the program fails via email.  However, according to FTP Voyager Scheduler, the task is always successful not matter what exit code we return.  I have tried positive and negative return codes and nothing appears to work.  Any idea how report a "run external program" failure?

Thanks in Advance

FTP Voyager Scheduler taking a lot of time?

I have my FTP Voyager Scheduler setup to automatically connect to a server and download a backup file (about 17GB).

The process starts at 3:00am and ends at about 7:45am.  However, if I do it manually, it will only take about 45 minutes.  Any ideas on how to speed up the scheduled process or settings I have selected that might slow it down?

I know it's not bandwidth or network congestion because I can do the manual transfer during the day with everybody on the network.  At 3:00am, nobody is on the network.

Thanks!

Old version of FTP Voyager - where to download?

$

Hi everyone,

a long time ago I bought a license for FTP Voyager 15.x and I was very happy to hear that from now on it will be free.

So I went ahead to upgrade to the latest version. Unfortunately it still shows evaluation messages but this is already dealt with in another thread.

The bigger problem is that I can't access my saved server profiles any more. It's only possible to import .csv files and I didn't create these files before upgrading.

I uninstalled and tried to download my paid 15.x version in the client area on ftpvoyager.com where it used to be but now it only redirects to the new version.

This is bad because my server list was really huge and I don't want to enter all server details again.

So is there any way to get a copy of an old setup file?

Thanks in advance!

FTP-Voyager in command line mode.

Hi,

Got FTP-Voyager to work great in command mode using a batch file to initiate file sync to my server from industrial robots to back them up.  Was working great as far as doing the job closing out starting another instance and going to the next robot.

New problem.....

It no longer closes out at the end of the sync.  What option did I change that keeps FTP-Voyager from closing ?  I am using "autoquit=1" in the command line.

Thanks

Stan
