folder-sync

Hello, I will try to be brief. When uploading files using Voyager, each file from within the folder being uploaded are shown as folders, instead of files, regardless of the file extension. The files (after being displayed as folders) are also placed outside the original folder during upload. It causes a large scroll in the remote window. Afterwards if I refresh or close the program and return they are in the correct folder. So all folders and files end up correct in the end.

I have reinstalled the program and tried different settings without luck. Maybe synchronization of the computer side folders will help but not sure.

Thanks for any pointers.

The server has unexpectedly closed the connection

I succesfully logged into a server and saw the content available.

I selected what I wanted to download and chose Download.

Now the log shows

STATUS>    Connecting to "64.27.7.34" on port 21.

STATUS>    Connected to 64.27.7.34:21 from 192.168.1.78:60507.

ERROR>    The server has unexpectedly closed the connection.

and cycles this 8 more times.

I cannot now see the content on the server and if I close FT Voyager and restart it just goes thru'

STATUS>    Connecting to "64.27.7.34" on port 21.

STATUS>    Connected to 64.27.7.34:21 from 192.168.1.78:60507.

ERROR>    The server has unexpectedly closed the connection.

9 times again!

Any thoughts would be helpful.

FTP Scheduler stopped working - could not retrieve additional information about remote path errors

I've had FTP Voyager and FTP Scheduler installed for many years.

On 11/2/2012 the scheduler stopped running nightly backups and now only generates errors when manually executing the jobs.

"Could not retrieve additional information about the local path. Please make sure the path exists and the local user has permissions".

This system has been setup for years and has not changed. The FTP Voyager can manually connect to the profile and I can download files from the server manually without problems.

The only major change to the system were recent FTP software upgrades and patches.

I've double checked the FTP Scheduler Profiles (which never changed passwords in the first place).

I've added a brand new FTP folder with new login password to the server which connects in FTP Voyager, but generates the same errors when manually executing a synch job in FTPV Scheduler.

And I've tried restarting the FTP Voyager Scheduler service and rebooting.

Also nothing has changed on the server and all the files and folders have full read/write access (and can be copied down manually from the FTP Voyager).

Its only when executing the job from within FTP Scheduler that it now fails with these messages and it started around 11/2/12.  But I can't recall on what dates I applied the FTP software patches and upgrades.

FTP-Voyager in command line mode.

Hi,

Got FTP-Voyager to work great in command mode using a batch file to initiate file sync to my server from industrial robots to back them up.  Was working great as far as doing the job closing out starting another instance and going to the next robot.

New problem.....

It no longer closes out at the end of the sync.  What option did I change that keeps FTP-Voyager from closing ?  I am using "autoquit=1" in the command line.

Thanks

Trouble sending large files to a Pure-FTPd Server

I have a connection set up to a server, all that is fine...

I can send smaller files just fine...

Larger files? It seems that the Command channel times out...

In the header of the Welcome message is a warning of a timeout at 3 minutes of inactivity...

So I dutifully setup a 150 second Keep Alive...

What I see in the log is...

The file (11GB+) sends fine...(Although there seems to be many reconnections during the transfer)

I will see an OPTS MLST command send

followed by a PWD and then a reconnection attempt...

Finally I will see a "Transfered <many> bytes STATUS message... Followed by an XCRC - which seems to receive no response after maybe 30 seconds...

Then another PWD...

Then an ERROR> Server has unexpectedly closed the connection...

And we start again....

Ideas?

FTP Voyager Scheduler and Network Shares

We are trying to upgrade our FTP Voyager from 11.1 to 16.1.  I've been working through all the kinks, but have gotten stuck on running the 16.1 scheduler as a service and being able to access in house network shares (not remote ones).  The PC is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  I've done everything in KB article #1156 and the recommendations at the bottom in article #1679.  They both talk about setting the service to run as a network account that has access to the shared resources.  I've tried various domain admin accounts that I know have permissions to the shares and security permissions to the folders, but when I am editing or creating a schedule and try to setup an action, I am only given local drives to pick from when I click the browse button for the "Local File or Folder" field on the Action Properties page.  If I don't run the scheduler as a service, clicking the browse button gives me a list of local drives and all my mapped drives.  And I tried running the service with the same user id and password that the computer was logged in with when the scheduler was run in stand alone mode and showed me the mapped drives, but it still only showed me local drives when ran as a service.  I've tried all this with UAC on and off, with no change.  I don't know what to try next.  Please help.

FTP Voyager - Scheduler problem

We have FTP Voyager 16.1.0.0 installed on a Windows 2008 R2 server. We have two automatic uploads scheduled to occur weekly (FTP Voyager establishes a connection to the destination and then moves and .CSV files from a particular directory to the destination). Once the file has been successfully moved, an email alert is generated and delivered internally.

This configuration has been working fine, until Daylight savings time began on march 9th.

Now, when the scheduled job runs, it executes continuously for an entire hour; because we receive an email alert when it runs, we know it executes about 2,600 times.

e.g. a scheduled task that should execute one time at 0420 on tuesday is now executing once every few seconds for an hour.

There is a line item on the release notes for 16.1.0.0 (The version we have) which states

FTP client release notes for FTP Voyager.

  • Corrected a Scheduler bug where tasks created when daylight savings time is off and scheduled to run daily or at a custom interval would repeatedly run for an hour after their scheduled execution time when daylight savings time resumed.

which is exactly what we're experiencing - is this a known issue / was the bug not actually corrected?

Thanks!

FTP Voyager + scheduled task that never ends

Hi,

I installed the FTP Voyager software on a server on a 2nd site. Everything has been configured on site 1 and is working as intended. I configured everything the same way on site 2nd site and the task never ends. I tried a backup and a sync with and without other tasks (emails on success/failure), nothing works. It does the job as insrtucted but the task never ends meaning the next day, the backup will never run.

How can I fix this?

FTP Voyager - Multi-Part Transfer Setting?

$

Hey Guys -

I do a lot of downloading over the internet via FTP - most of which are files 1gb - 8gb.  For a couple of years now, I've used SmartFTP due to it's feature of being able to set "Multi-Part Transfers.  Using this makes downloading much faster per file!  For example, when downloading a large file (1gb+) with default settings, it downloads at ~250kb/s  when above is set to 32, I go my max speed of 2.0mb/s.  If not familer, here's how the setting works:

- It applies to each download worker

- You may set the file size threshold for it to be used (I set mine to 1mb)

- You configure how many "Parts" (connections) you wish for it to use (between 1 - 32)

- It may be enabled or disabled globally or per favorite

I'm trying to find an alternative FTP client as SmartFTP has had issues recently, but cannot find one which offers this setting.  Does FTP Voyager?

I downloaded and installed FTP Voyager and started a download from the same site with default settings and 1 worker.  The download speed capped at about 270kb/s.

If you could tell me how to set this if available, I'd appreciate it very much!

Thank You!

Scheduler runs task continuously

I have several tasks setup to run at different time intervals on a daily basis.

After the time change for Daylight Savings Time on Sunday morning the tasks run as scheduled and then stop and re-start continuously.

I have tried re-starting the service, updating the task scheduler time and re-booting the server all to no avail.

Has anyone else seen this or does anyone have any ideas on how to correct it.

I am on FTP Voyager version 16.0.2.0.

Never had this issue on any previous versions.

Is there a place to download version 15 again????

Good day

I've set up a Scheduler job to Move Down files from an FTP server to my local disk.

The files download fine but then the remote files are never deleted, I don't even see a failed DELE command in the log.

I've tried the following two remote paths:

  • /
  • /*

Both work for downloads, both don't delete the files.

Log Sample

FTP Voyager Scheduler not working (Ver. 16.0.2.0)

Hi

I've referred to here by FTP Voyager support.

This is my first time I use FTP Voyager for scheduling file transfer, configuring task was very easy, but I still cannot make it work.

In the task action, I created a new action to download a specific folder (and all files and subfolders inside that folder to my local PC

In action information, I put the (Remote File or Folder) as: /FolderName

Nothing downloaded, and error in the log says:

Execution failed (Last Error Message: Unable to perform file action: Could not retrieve additional information about the source path.  Does the source path exist?).

I changed it to: FolderName (without slash).

Nothing downloaded, and same error in the log.

I then tried: FolderName/*.*

Log says: Execution successfully completed.

But in the local folder, I found it only downloaded files from main folder (No subfolders or files inside them), and some of them with ZERO size !!!!!

Again, I tried: /FolderName/*.*

Log says: Execution successfully completed.

I found that the ZERO size problem has been solved (files downloaded with correct size) but still cannot get the subfolders !

In the forum, I found a link to the older version (ver. 15.2.0.19)

I downloaded and tried it on another PC, It works like a charm, with no errors !

Can anyone here help me to figure out how to make the scheduler download the whole content of remote folder ??

Hello

I’m trying to run FTP Voyager from the command line like so:call "C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTP Voyager.exe" profile=ZFTP autosync=1 syncoptions=0 local=C:\zsm2web\ remote=/ZSMDOC/ autoquit=1

This works if the remote folder is empty.

I want  to overwrite the existing files based on the timestamp of the files in the local folder or delete the files if they dont exist in de local folder.

Can anyone give me a working example using :

syncoptions List

  •         SyncRemote = 0x0000

  •         SyncLocal = 0x0001

    • IgnoreCase = 0x0002

    • CompareSize = 0x0004

    • CompareTime = 0x0008

    • IncludeDirs = 0x0010

    • DontDelete = 0x0020

    • OverwriteConfirmations = 0x0040

    • DeleteConfirmations = 0x0080

    • RemoteIgnoreNewer = 0x0100

    • RemoteIgnoreOlder = 0x0200

    • LocalIgnoreNewer = 0x0400

    • LocalIgnoreOlder = 0x0800

    • MinimizeStatusDialogs = 0x1000

    • QueueErrorMessages = 0x2000

    • IgnoreSymbolicLinks = 0x4000

Not sure how i should add this to the command line so a complete working example woulde be appreciated

FTP-Voyager Syncoption

FTP-Voyager :

Using command line.

Want to upload (to my computer / plant network) files from a Fanuc robot.  The Fanuc robot stores teach pendent files and others files in directories on the robot's internal hard drive.

Using "get=*.*" will not work just as the help files indicate.  Alternate would be to use syncronization.

My question is how to use syncoption command.  The text in the help files are confusing as to which syncoption=1  or syncoption=0 writes to the local hard drive and does not write to the remote hard drive.

It is critical I get it right or I will wipe out the files on a robot and cause massive down time.  Once I figure it out then it's no problem, copy paste in batch file.  (not time to experiment on first time I try it !)

I will be reading all files from the robot and storing into an empty directory on the computer / network as a backup device.  The only time I will write to the robot(s) is when I need to restore a robot on an individual basis like after a power failure and a dead battery in the robot.  I will be writing a batch file with the task of backing up several hundred robots with several hundred files per robot.

(1) Is the syncronization method the best way ? ie: ftp-voyager can only do 100 timed tasks,  I need to have the batch file create and move to new directories under a folder for each robot, and capture all the files.

(2) How does the syncoption command work ie :

  • syncoptions: The syncoptions flag specifies how a Synchronization will take place. To determine what value should be used, refer to the list at the bottom of this page. The value here must be a decimal representation of the sum of all applicable hex values. The simplest ones are syncoptions=0 (synchronize a remote folder to a local folder) and syncoptions=1 (synchronize a local folder to a remote folder)
  • Synchronize a remote directory to a local directory: "C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTPVoyager.exe" profile=YourProfileName autosync=1 syncoptions=1 local=C:\dat\ remote=/dat/ autoquit=1
  • Synchronize a local directory to a remote directory: "C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTPVoyager.exe" profile=YourProfileName autosync=1 syncoptions=0 local=C:\dat\ remote=/dat/ autoquit=1

The question is which one of these is right ?

Thanks

FTP Voyager authentication Problem ...

Users transfer date to serv-U server with FTP Voyager.

User do also transfer data to some linux SFTP servers.

We used to have FTP Voyager 15.2.0.15 - everything worked fine.

Since updating to FTP Voyager 16.0.2.0 authentication
with linux SFTP servers fail (connection to Serv-U is still working) It seames that the password is not transferred to the server.

Whithout configuring user and password in server profile: I've been asked for a username - not for the password.

FTP Voyager Scheduler Hangs - Service Restart Required

$

0

I want to use FTP Voyager to upload data on a regular schedule from remote sites to my FTP server.  The application checks all of the boxes for what I need it to do: Upload all files in a folder, do some XCRC/XMD5/XSHA1, and then delete the local files after successful upload.  My problem is that the scheduled task seems to never complete sometimes and we stop receiving files.

The Internet connections for most of our locations frequently drop.  It seems this might have something to do with the problem.  My oldest installation has been running reliably since July and has a solid connection.  The scheduler hangs most frequently on sites with the worst connectivity issues.

I have implemented a klugey work-around by scheduling a task that restarts the Voyager scheduler service.  This keeps the problem from manifesting and we receive our files.

I set the following scheduler options:

  • connection timeout = 90
  • connection retries = 9
  • connection delay = 3
  • transfer send timeout = 90
  • transfer idle timeout = 5
  • file transfer upload file tries = 10

Scheduled task creation:

  1. I create a scheduled task that runs every 15 minutes.
  2. Add an action to run an external program.  This executes a batch file that moves files into a staging folder for the FTP transfer.
  3. Add a second action to synchronize remote folders.  This moves the files up to our FTP server.
    1. I add an event to this action that runs a batch file after upload.  The batch file is there to delete the uploaded file and is passed, "$LocalPath", as an argument.

This setup works perfectly well in my lab and at the site with the consistent Internet connection.  Other locations have been seen to work for days and even weeks, but eventually the scheduled task hangs until the scheduler service is restarted.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Feature Request] FTP Voyager - SCP support

Hello SolarWinds and FTP Voyager developers. I got a feature request. I am testing some FTP programs and like FTP Voyager sofar. But I am missing support for SCP (Secure Copy Protocol). I got some servers and a router. They support SSH login via putty. If I try to connect via SSH with FTP Voyager (or any other FTP client) I get disconnected. I also tried WinSCP with SSH. It disconnects also. If I switch from SSH to SCP in WinSCP, I can connect fine and transfer files without problems. But I do not want to have 2 or more programs installed and WinSCP has less features than FTP Voyager. Therefore it would be nice if you could add support for SCP.

"FTP Voyager has ceased to function"

I posted this several days ago and no help was forthcoming, but my timing may simply have been poor.  I also tried tech support at Solar Wind, but I only succeeded in annoying them, as they maintain they're not required to help me in any way.  I've been running FTP Voyager 16.1.0.0 on a laptop with Windows 7.  The program opens normally and functions correctly for maybe twenty seconds or so. Then, Windows opens an error message stating "FTP Voyager has ceased to function", and the program closes itself.  FTP is an integral part of my livelihood as a web designer, so this is naturally frustrating and time-consuming.  Does anyone have a clue what's happening, or what I might try to make the program function normally?  I probably won't kill myself over this, but it does cross my mind.

FTP Voyager Service Keeps Hanging Up

$

Greetings,

I’m working in a situation in which FTP voyager is being used in a Saas ERP scenario, in conjunction with Seagull’s Commander/Bartender suite.  The Saas ERP system is generating a data file, which is saved to an FTP site, hosted by the ERP Vendor.  We’ve been using FTP voyager (as a service) on the bartender server to poll the site and retrieve data files back to the bartender server.  Once the files are “onsite” the commander application runs with them and sends them to a printer.  Sounds easy enough.

The problem were experiencing is that FTP voyager is hanging up.  It hung up twice today, and the data files backed up on the FTP site until we restarted the service, upon which all the files were sucked over and the service returned to business as usual--until it hung up again.  Any idea what might be the problem or what the best way might be to trouble-shoot the problem?

A couple of other points: The site is password protected.  The files we are pulling are small (<10KB) and we’re not pulling a lot of them (<100/Day).  We are polling the site every 30 seconds.  And this was never working well—we played around running it without the service and it failed even more frequently than it has as a service.

I’d appreciate any insight.

Scheduled FTP Voyager task runs 1000+ times per night

$

I'm using FTP Voyager scheduler to connect to a remote SFTP server on a nightly basis and download the contents of a folder, verify the downloads then empty the remote folder using 3 actions within each task.

I have a different task set up for each day of the week as the remote server has a separate folder for each day's files, so essentially 7 different weekly tasks.  Each task is scheduled to execute at 00:15 each night.  Number of workers on each task is set at 2.

The task executes correctly at 00:15 and has usually completed by 00:20, but instead of just ending and waiting until the next scheduled task it reruns the task over and over again until 01:15, sometimes executing over 1300 times per night.  At 01:15 it stops and waits for the next scheduled execution. Manually execute the task and it runs once only.

I need to resolve this as we need to set up an email alert to a group of users to confirm that the task executed successfully, currently it sends 1000+ emails per night if we enable the alert.

Has anyone else had this weird behaviour? Running v16.1.0.0.

Last part of the log file below, first 2 lines show that it completes the execution then immediately starts again
