Can FTP-V be started from a Windows icon showing a specific local directory?  This without actually connecting to a remote site.

target   "C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTP Voyager.exe" local=y:\bsc  does not work.

Start in:  Y:\BSC   does not work.

any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Home directory not accessible

Hello,

I'm having trouble with this configuration. . .

Windows Server 2008R2 + Voyager 16.0.2.0 + FTP over TLS (implicit) + PASV + connection to Serv-U v6.4

I get this error is in the log:

COMMAND> PASV

227 Entering Passive Mode (70,89,1xx,1xx,7,209)     <== Note, this is the Serv-U IP address.

"ERROR> The home directory specified for this account on the remote server is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator for further assistance."

Things I've tested. . .

This works great (home directory displays, but not for Serv-U):

Windows Server 2008R2 + Voyager 16.0.2.0 + SFTP + PASV + connection to non-Serv-U servers

. . .and this works (home directory displays on Serv-U but using an older version of Voyager + Win7 instead of 2008R2):

Windows7 + Voyager 16.0.1.1 + FTP over TLS (implicit) + PASV + connection to Serv-U v6.4

I'm not using the Scheduler "as service" to do this testing - just the Voyager UI. I'm thinking I should try loading 16.0.1.1 on the 2008R2 server but hesitate because I'm afraid it could screw up the Scheduler that is running other jobs.

Any one have similar experience?

Thanks.

Doug

Problem with latest update of FTP Voyager, Version 16.2.0.328

I am new to Thwack, and this was first posted to what I think now was the wrong Group/Forum.  So I am re-posting here to be sure it gets to the correct people.

I have used FTP Voyager for years, paying the yearly cost when it wasn't free because I really like the product.  Now, a few upgrades later, it will no longer connect to my FTP accounts.

The old profiles seemed to carry over, as usual, but all fail to connect, returning Error 10013.  A little looking seems to show this as a WSEACCES error, pertaining to rejection by the socket.  I did save the Program folder before upgrading.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this.  I have several other FTP clients but prefer FTP VOYAGER.  Thanks!

FTP Voyager Sheduling a Move not a copy

$

I'm sure many people have the same need.

To copy a file, then based on a successful copy, delete the source file.

BUT if the copy fails, leave the source alone for a retry.

This is usually known as a Move.

This facility exists in FTP Voyager for manual operations, but I can't work it out in the scheduler.

Anybody got an idea?

Upgrading from 15.2.0.6 to 16.1.0.0 issues

$

Hello,

I am currently using FTP Voyager v15.2.0.6.
There are a number of schedules and site profiles associated with this install.

I followed these steps to upgrade:

1. I copied the FTP Voyager Schedule.sch and exported the site profiles.

2. I imported these fields in a clean FTP Voyager 15.2.0.6 install.

3. I ran the upgrade

After running the upgrade the site profiles and schedules are still in working order, however:

- Opening the calender in scheduler causes the scheduler to hang, it just says busy until I manually stop the scheduler service. There is no Windows logging or FTP Voyager logging for this behaviour

- Everything in the scheduled task Window simply states "not scheduled for execution"

Any advice would be appreciated

FTP Voyager Scheduler Empty Folder "Move Down" Bug & Possible Work-Around

$

I've been a long-time user of FTP Voyager, well before SW bought up RhinoSoft.  I even paid for it too, back in those days.  However, lately I upgraded to the new version, and found out that hey!  It's free now!  Cool!

However, all was not sunshine and roses.  I too have run into the FTP Voyager Scheduler empty folder bug, wherein you perform a "Move Down" command against an empty folder and it simply sits there.  In my case, it performs KEEP ALIVE tasks to hold the connection open.  Critically, because this task is still executing, it will not execute any of the other scheduled tasks.  See below for a log output.

[03] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - Getting "real path" name to keep connection alive (KEEP ALIVE)

[07] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - SSH_FXP_REALPATH: translating path: .

[08] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - SSH_FXP_NAME: translated path: /

[03] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - Getting "real path" name to keep connection alive (KEEP ALIVE)

[07] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - SSH_FXP_REALPATH: translating path: .

[08] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - SSH_FXP_NAME: translated path: /

I see that this is a known issue here on the forums, and that there are supposidly "bug fix requests" or something to handle it.  However, I have a problem with this NOW.

I believe I found a simple work around.  I chained a file upload to the destination folder first, uploading a single 1-byte file to the destination, and THEN performing the full folder move down.

This will always cause the remote folder to have something in it, and for then the task to complete successfully.  I then set up my local-side automation to ignore that file, and things were working.

Not exactly elegant, but it's working for now. :-/

FTP Voyager GUI not showing Scheduler sites but they're still there.

$

Voyager 16.0.2. I upgraded my server to Win 7 from XP and re-installed FTP Voyager with my pre-configured site. I moved/copied the files as described by good ol' Rhino Soft but my Scheduler sites are not showing up in the Tools/Scheduler Site Profiles. Now I had some transfers that had entries in the "Auto-Rename" section within the Advanced Options section of said Profile. The Tasks/Actions are still performing those changes even though they're not visible in the GUI. That part's fine except I can't make any adds or changes to that matrix. How can I fix this and regain access to the "Auto-Rename" function of those sites?

email settings in Scheduler and Voyager

We recently replaced our server and had to move FTP Voyager. We took a backup copy of the files as outlined in the article http://www.serv-u.com/kb/1189/how-to-back-up-and-restore-ftp-voyager . We did a new install of FTPVoyager v 16.1.0 and reinstalled the backup files onto the new server.

We have now discovered after much head scratching and lost hours, that the email settings relating to SMTP server, and the sending address (From) are not being correctly maintained. We tried to update the SMTP setttings in the GUI (both in Scheduler and in Voyager) but they are not used when Scheduler runs an Event that requires email. Instead, it appears to use the ones in the FTPVoyagerSettings.Archive file.

In order to change the SMTP server name and the "From" entry we now have to do this by hacking the FTPVoyagerSettings.Archive file rather than via the GUI.

Is this a known bug? Is there anything we can do to get the parameters set in the GUI of Voyager and Scheduler to be retained and used?

Also, whilst asking questions in this area, why are there 2 interfaces for email settings under Tools - one in Options and one in Scheduler options. These seem to be independent as we can put different values in each which are retained between sessions- both of which are ignored(!) in favour of those in FTPVoyagerSettings.Archive file.  I have been unable to track down where the GUI values are actually stored.

A right dog's breakfast.

Trouble sending large files to a Pure-FTPd Server

$

I have a connection set up to a server, all that is fine...

I can send smaller files just fine...

Larger files? It seems that the Command channel times out...

In the header of the Welcome message is a warning of a timeout at 3 minutes of inactivity...

So I dutifully setup a 150 second Keep Alive...

What I see in the log is...

The file (11GB+) sends fine...(Although there seems to be many reconnections during the transfer)

I will see an OPTS MLST command send

followed by a PWD and then a reconnection attempt...

Finally I will see a "Transfered <many> bytes STATUS message... Followed by an XCRC - which seems to receive no response after maybe 30 seconds...

Then another PWD...

Then an ERROR> Server has unexpectedly closed the connection...

And we start again....

Ideas?

FTP Voyager Download Most Recent File

$

Hello,

I am new to FTP voyager and have scheduled a task to retrieve a remote file and download to server's local temp drive. My problem is that there are multiple remote files with the same name, but they are different and can be differentiated based on date. How do I select the most recent file? For further clarification I will include an example of the contents of the remote folder I am looking to download:

ihdPURCHASE.txt
ihdPURCHASE.txt
ihdPURCHASE.txt
ihdPURCHASE.txt

While sharing the same name, all of the aforementioned text files are different and in size and the date on which they were modified.

Also, I have tried writing the remote file or folder as the following: /ihdPURCHASE.txt/%m-%d-%Y which has not worked. When I try to write /ihdPURCHASE.txt/%m-%d-%Y/the last forward slash is always cut off.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Can't duplicate automatic uploads from SmartFTP to voyager - scheduler

$

Hello, I am trying to duplicate move my old SmartFTP's application of cloning specifici files&folders from my office to my home PC (s) running Serv-U.

SmartFTP has a bottom pane queue to which I was dragging and dropping my specific files and folders (from offce pc's) and you could set various actions on them as queue items, schedule for custom times, set what action to do

when they complete, and setup precise FILE EXIST RULEs for the Target/Destionation.

e.g. IF Dest Time&Date Stamp EQUAL  AND SIZE smaller THEN RESUME

IF Dest Time&Date            OLDER and SIZE smaller THEN OVERWRITE

IF Dest Time&Date            EQUAL and SIZE equal THEN SKIP

IF Dest Time                     NEWER and SIZE equal THEN SKIP

After Invoking Voyager schedule Mgmnt screen don't know whether to choose Create NEW task or choose BACKUP,

but say I choose NEW TASK   It takes me to the GENERAL tab , which is good, I pick the target Serv-U and give the particular cloning task a name and a description.

Then it takes me to the ACTION -UPLOAD tab, in which has the two empty fields Remote Folder/File and Local.

The LOCAL has a Dropdown tab where it looks like I can select ONE file or folder, rather than use CTRL or something to multi-select.   On the other side I can't browse for the destination at all it has to be

manually typed(?)   Can't this be done in an easier way/

TIA
