[Feature Request] FTP Voyager - SCP support

$

Hello SolarWinds and FTP Voyager developers. I got a feature request. I am testing some FTP programs and like FTP Voyager sofar. But I am missing support for SCP (Secure Copy Protocol). I got some servers and a router. They support SSH login via putty. If I try to connect via SSH with FTP Voyager (or any other FTP client) I get disconnected. I also tried WinSCP with SSH. It disconnects also. If I switch from SSH to SCP in WinSCP, I can connect fine and transfer files without problems. But I do not want to have 2 or more programs installed and WinSCP has less features than FTP Voyager. Therefore it would be nice if you could add support for SCP.

FTP Voyager Migration

How can I easily migrate from version 15.2.0.19 to 16.1.0.0?  I've managed to import my site profiles into ftp voyager, however how do I import my scheduled tasks into scheduler?

FTP-Voyager: Save window layout?

FTP-Voyager is a fine FTP client. The only thing that bothers me is the following: In the layout local - left, remote - right the files window in the remote view is very small. I can drag the border to the left in order to make it larger but this gets lost, when FTP-Voyager is restarted. Is there a way to save the layout so that the last setting is restored after restart?

Synchronizing with Remote Server Error Message

$

Hi folks,

I'm attempting to synchronize with a remote FTP site against my network directory. The remote FTP directory automatically renames the file upon download. When I setup a schedule and executed it manually, I'm getting a "Download of "\\<local network share which I'm synchronizing with>" failed message. Why is it attempting to download from my network share?

Below is the log from FTP Voyager. My question is, why is it attempting to "download" from my local directory?

[05] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:32 - RETR <remote ftp folder>/QSBCUST.001
[06] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:32 - 150 Opening data connection for <remote ftp folder>/QSBCUST.001.
[06] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:33 - 450 File unavailable.
[04] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:33 - Download of "\\<local network location>\QSBCUST.001" failed.
[04] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:33 - Retrying failed transfer (attempt 2 out of 3)...
[03] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:33 - SSL connection established. All transactions are now secure.
[03] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:33 - Encryption cipher: 128 bit RC4; Version: TLSv1/SSLv3.
[03] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:33 - Receiving: <remote ftp folder>/QSBCUST.001 -> \\<local network location>\QSBCUST.001
[05] Tue 10Feb15 11:36:33 - PASV

The synchronization seems to happen successfully, all new files are downloaded from the remote FTP to my local network directory, although the automatic rename on the remote server is no longer happening. I'm thinking this is no coincidence?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael Murray

FTP-Voyager Syncoption

FTP-Voyager :

Using command line.

Want to upload (to my computer / plant network) files from a Fanuc robot.  The Fanuc robot stores teach pendent files and others files in directories on the robot's internal hard drive.

Using "get=*.*" will not work just as the help files indicate.  Alternate would be to use syncronization.

My question is how to use syncoption command.  The text in the help files are confusing as to which syncoption=1  or syncoption=0 writes to the local hard drive and does not write to the remote hard drive.

It is critical I get it right or I will wipe out the files on a robot and cause massive down time.  Once I figure it out then it's no problem, copy paste in batch file.  (not time to experiment on first time I try it !)

I will be reading all files from the robot and storing into an empty directory on the computer / network as a backup device.  The only time I will write to the robot(s) is when I need to restore a robot on an individual basis like after a power failure and a dead battery in the robot.  I will be writing a batch file with the task of backing up several hundred robots with several hundred files per robot.

(1) Is the syncronization method the best way ? ie: ftp-voyager can only do 100 timed tasks,  I need to have the batch file create and move to new directories under a folder for each robot, and capture all the files.

(2) How does the syncoption command work ie :

  • syncoptions: The syncoptions flag specifies how a Synchronization will take place. To determine what value should be used, refer to the list at the bottom of this page. The value here must be a decimal representation of the sum of all applicable hex values. The simplest ones are syncoptions=0 (synchronize a remote folder to a local folder) and syncoptions=1 (synchronize a local folder to a remote folder)
  • Synchronize a remote directory to a local directory: "C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTPVoyager.exe" profile=YourProfileName autosync=1 syncoptions=1 local=C:\dat\ remote=/dat/ autoquit=1
  • Synchronize a local directory to a remote directory: "C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTPVoyager.exe" profile=YourProfileName autosync=1 syncoptions=0 local=C:\dat\ remote=/dat/ autoquit=1

The question is which one of these is right ?

Thanks

I'm running FTP Voyager 16.1.0.0 on Windows 7 on a Dell laptop.  It opens and functions properly, but after a minute or so, it abruptly closes with a Window error message "FTP Voyager has stopped working". Needless to say, the necessity to keep opening the program because it consistently closes itself is frustrating.  Any thoughts?

Site profiles not visible in Scheduler

I have created a new profile in FTP Voyager; I have copied it to the Scheduler Profiles list by right clicking on the profile in profile manager and selecting "copy to scheduler". So far so good.

When I start the management console for Scheduler and create a new task, I go to select the profile name but the new one I created is not showing. In addition, there are old profile names showing in the listing which do NOT show in FTP Voyager. It appears that Scheduler is looking at the incorrect list of profiles.

Can anyone point me to what I am doing wrong or to a configuration that needs changing?

FTP Voyager Scheduler not working (Ver. 16.0.2.0)

Hi

I've referred to here by FTP Voyager support.

This is my first time I use FTP Voyager for scheduling file transfer, configuring task was very easy, but I still cannot make it work.

In the task action, I created a new action to download a specific folder (and all files and subfolders inside that folder to my local PC

In action information, I put the (Remote File or Folder) as: /FolderName

Nothing downloaded, and error in the log says:

Execution failed (Last Error Message: Unable to perform file action: Could not retrieve additional information about the source path.  Does the source path exist?).

I changed it to: FolderName (without slash).

Nothing downloaded, and same error in the log.

I then tried: FolderName/*.*

Log says: Execution successfully completed.

But in the local folder, I found it only downloaded files from main folder (No subfolders or files inside them), and some of them with ZERO size !!!!!

Again, I tried: /FolderName/*.*

Log says: Execution successfully completed.

I found that the ZERO size problem has been solved (files downloaded with correct size) but still cannot get the subfolders !

In the forum, I found a link to the older version (ver. 15.2.0.19)

I downloaded and tried it on another PC, It works like a charm, with no errors !

Can anyone here help me to figure out how to make the scheduler download the whole content of remote folder ??

Scheduler runs task continuously

I have several tasks setup to run at different time intervals on a daily basis.

After the time change for Daylight Savings Time on Sunday morning the tasks run as scheduled and then stop and re-start continuously.

I have tried re-starting the service, updating the task scheduler time and re-booting the server all to no avail.

Has anyone else seen this or does anyone have any ideas on how to correct it.

I am on FTP Voyager version 16.0.2.0.

Never had this issue on any previous versions.

Is there a place to download version 15 again????

Doesn't work on Windows 7

Command line doesn't synchronize any files. Seeing multiple local folder tabs open at a time.  When it did sync, either the directories did a comparison and then the process stopped, or bytes got transferred before the process stopped.  When running the program manually, couldn't figure out how to have orphan files and folders in the target folder get deleted automatically.

Trouble sending large files to a Pure-FTPd Server

$

I have a connection set up to a server, all that is fine...

I can send smaller files just fine...

Larger files? It seems that the Command channel times out...

In the header of the Welcome message is a warning of a timeout at 3 minutes of inactivity...

So I dutifully setup a 150 second Keep Alive...

What I see in the log is...

The file (11GB+) sends fine...(Although there seems to be many reconnections during the transfer)

I will see an OPTS MLST command send

followed by a PWD and then a reconnection attempt...

Finally I will see a "Transfered <many> bytes STATUS message... Followed by an XCRC - which seems to receive no response after maybe 30 seconds...

Then another PWD...

Then an ERROR> Server has unexpectedly closed the connection...

And we start again....

Ideas?

FTP Voyager Scheduler Hangs

$

We are using the scheduler to move files to a customer ftp server. The process just moves files, nothing else. Currently the task will run but hang, when we check the customer ftp server we can see files are transferred. But there is always zero length files. I assume these are the placeholder of the file to be transferred. Process will just hang after 5 or 6 files and the files that are transferred are not deleting from home directory. The files are only 2kb each so I can't imagine file size being the problem.

Is there a queue size limit on number of files that can be transferred? We have sometimes up to a thousand files that will need to be moved. Also does the process only delete after it has completed? We have seen it complete once or twice with about 40 files, but that is so random we can't call it an actual successful test.

Thanks

Jim

My system updated to Windows 10 a few days ago. I went to open Voyager and it will not do anything. It will not FTP any files and it will not open the server side files to access. It just sits and spins. Is this caused from the Windows 10 upgrade or should I look elsewhere? Thanks, Ronald Shackelford.

Delete only after success download

I need to schedule an FTP download and then delete the files on the FTP server.   How do you delete only after successful download.

I had everything setup and working and then set the scheduler to run as a service.  Running as a service you can not use mapped network drives so the download failed but the delete files still ran fine.
