The server has unexpectedly closed the connection-FTP Voyager Scheduler

$

I am getting this error only when connecting to a server with a profile under "scheduler site profile" (under tools), when using and identical profile under the regular "site profiles" (under browser) I don't get the error. It's very consistent when I try the scheduler site profile first and many times. Once I try the site in the regular profile and it connects I can then go back to the scheduler profile and it connects just fine. If I stop and start the scheduler service the error returns.

Any ideas? I've made sure both profiles are identical. I've also removed and re-created the scheduler profile. I don't get it. It's like a bug.

I've tried the re-connection and timeout values but they don't seem to help as it actually does connect but then immediately get's disconnected.

Big issue with scheduled tasks

Hello,

I really need your help to solve this issue.

We are using FTP Voyager V16.2.0.328 to schedule different tasks to send messages to our partners.

The problem is that sometimes, the tasks are frozen. It keeps trying to connect but do nothing, and as it doesn't send an issue mail.

In the log, the action stay  : Connected

To solve it, we just interrupt the task in order to run the other tasks.

Is there a solution to kill the task after X min, or to send a mail when the task stay connected more than X Min ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Merging files in existing folders?

$

I am helping a local accounting firm migrate their infrastructure to a virtual cloud environment where they have multiple virtual desktops and one virtual server with their data on it. Prior to moving their data, one of their daily duties was to scan documents into PDF's and drop them on a network share in a particular folder for their customer(s) for data retention. Now that they are using a cloud, this process becomes more challenging. My thought was to use the Voyager FTP solution along with Voyager FTP Scheduler to take files scanned on a desktop and saved locally on a folder and sync it with their virtual server via an FTP connection. If I create a folder on the virtual server called "tempscans" and kick off the task on Voyager Scheduler, it will save this file to the correct folder. Now I am wondering if this utility can merge files in existing folders when it does it's scheduled sync? My thought was to create a local folder on each local desktop with just the folder structure that has the names of their customers only minus any files. That way, when they scan a document into PDF, they can perform a "Save As" option to the respected folder and hopefully, when the scheduled sync kicks off, it will just merge that new file in with the existing and in the existing folder.

Is this possible with this client?

FTP Voyager 16 No ASCII over SFTP?

Hi All,

I moved from Voyager 15 to 16 and am having a strange problem. Site in 15 used sftp just fine and my text files were formatted correctly ascii on the transfer from a unix server. Now, on 16, using the same settings as 15, my text files are not formatted and appear binary. I have checked and messed with every setting imaginable. Now, if I change my protocol to regular ftp 21 the text files are formatted ascii just fine. Anyone see anything like this?

FTP-Voyager in command line mode.

Hi,

Got FTP-Voyager to work great in command mode using a batch file to initiate file sync to my server from industrial robots to back them up.  Was working great as far as doing the job closing out starting another instance and going to the next robot.

New problem.....

It no longer closes out at the end of the sync.  What option did I change that keeps FTP-Voyager from closing ?  I am using "autoquit=1" in the command line.

Thanks

FTP Voyager Scheduler hangs when connecting to F5

I'm setting up the FTP Voyager Scheduler to download backup files from our F5's. It works on some, with this log message:

[12] Tue 13Oct15 12:05:04 - (Task: f5-internal-01_backup) - Execution successfully completed.

[07] Tue 13Oct15 12:05:07 - SSH_MSG_DISCONNECT: reason code 11; description: Disconnection initiated by user.

But fails on 4 out of 6 with this log message:

[07] Tue 13Oct15 14:05:48 - SSH_MSG_DISCONNECT: reason code 11; description: Disconnection initiated by user.

[13] Tue 13Oct15 14:07:24 - (Action: "/var/local/ucs" to "C:\SFTP_Root\f5-internal-03") - Action was aborted.

[12] Tue 13Oct15 14:07:24 - (Task: f5-internal-03_backup) - Execution was aborted.

[07] Tue 13Oct15 14:07:24 - SSH_MSG_DISCONNECT: reason code 11; description: Disconnection initiated by user.

The last message is from having to cancel the task, as it just sits at "Executing". The only difference is the F5 OS version, the ones that work are 11.2.0 and the ones that fail are 11.6.0, anyone see this before?

FTP Voyager Scheduler Hangs

$

We are using the scheduler to move files to a customer ftp server. The process just moves files, nothing else. Currently the task will run but hang, when we check the customer ftp server we can see files are transferred. But there is always zero length files. I assume these are the placeholder of the file to be transferred. Process will just hang after 5 or 6 files and the files that are transferred are not deleting from home directory. The files are only 2kb each so I can't imagine file size being the problem.

Is there a queue size limit on number of files that can be transferred? We have sometimes up to a thousand files that will need to be moved. Also does the process only delete after it has completed? We have seen it complete once or twice with about 40 files, but that is so random we can't call it an actual successful test.

Thanks

I'm trying to used the command line interface of FTP Voyager and the 'profile' switch is working to connect me to the correct site, but the 'put' is not.  The site opens and I don't see any attempt to upload the file.

FTP Voyager Scheduler Empty Folder "Move Down" Bug & Possible Work-Around

$

I've been a long-time user of FTP Voyager, well before SW bought up RhinoSoft.  I even paid for it too, back in those days.  However, lately I upgraded to the new version, and found out that hey!  It's free now!  Cool!

However, all was not sunshine and roses.  I too have run into the FTP Voyager Scheduler empty folder bug, wherein you perform a "Move Down" command against an empty folder and it simply sits there.  In my case, it performs KEEP ALIVE tasks to hold the connection open.  Critically, because this task is still executing, it will not execute any of the other scheduled tasks.  See below for a log output.

[03] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - Getting "real path" name to keep connection alive (KEEP ALIVE)

[07] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - SSH_FXP_REALPATH: translating path: .

[08] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - SSH_FXP_NAME: translated path: /

[03] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - Getting "real path" name to keep connection alive (KEEP ALIVE)

[07] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - SSH_FXP_REALPATH: translating path: .

[08] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - SSH_FXP_NAME: translated path: /

I see that this is a known issue here on the forums, and that there are supposidly "bug fix requests" or something to handle it.  However, I have a problem with this NOW.

I believe I found a simple work around.  I chained a file upload to the destination folder first, uploading a single 1-byte file to the destination, and THEN performing the full folder move down.

This will always cause the remote folder to have something in it, and for then the task to complete successfully.  I then set up my local-side automation to ignore that file, and things were working.

Not exactly elegant, but it's working for now. :-/

Export FTP Voyager Job Information to .csv or Excel

Hi all. Is there anyway to export the Scheduler Job Information - job name, site profile used, schedule run time, event info to excel or .csv file just like you can export Site Profile information? We have built up a lot of site profiles and scheduled jobs and need to get that info into a document. I can't find an export nor can I manipulate the .sch file or at least haven't figured it out yet.

FTP Scheduler stopped working - could not retrieve additional information about remote path errors

$

I've had FTP Voyager and FTP Scheduler installed for many years.

On 11/2/2012 the scheduler stopped running nightly backups and now only generates errors when manually executing the jobs.

"Could not retrieve additional information about the local path. Please make sure the path exists and the local user has permissions".

This system has been setup for years and has not changed. The FTP Voyager can manually connect to the profile and I can download files from the server manually without problems.

The only major change to the system were recent FTP software upgrades and patches.

I've double checked the FTP Scheduler Profiles (which never changed passwords in the first place).

I've added a brand new FTP folder with new login password to the server which connects in FTP Voyager, but generates the same errors when manually executing a synch job in FTPV Scheduler.

And I've tried restarting the FTP Voyager Scheduler service and rebooting.

Also nothing has changed on the server and all the files and folders have full read/write access (and can be copied down manually from the FTP Voyager).

Its only when executing the job from within FTP Scheduler that it now fails with these messages and it started around 11/2/12.  But I can't recall on what dates I applied the FTP software patches and upgrades.

FTP-Voyager Syncoption

FTP-Voyager :

Using command line.

Want to upload (to my computer / plant network) files from a Fanuc robot.  The Fanuc robot stores teach pendent files and others files in directories on the robot's internal hard drive.

Using "get=*.*" will not work just as the help files indicate.  Alternate would be to use syncronization.

My question is how to use syncoption command.  The text in the help files are confusing as to which syncoption=1  or syncoption=0 writes to the local hard drive and does not write to the remote hard drive.

It is critical I get it right or I will wipe out the files on a robot and cause massive down time.  Once I figure it out then it's no problem, copy paste in batch file.  (not time to experiment on first time I try it !)

I will be reading all files from the robot and storing into an empty directory on the computer / network as a backup device.  The only time I will write to the robot(s) is when I need to restore a robot on an individual basis like after a power failure and a dead battery in the robot.  I will be writing a batch file with the task of backing up several hundred robots with several hundred files per robot.

(1) Is the syncronization method the best way ? ie: ftp-voyager can only do 100 timed tasks,  I need to have the batch file create and move to new directories under a folder for each robot, and capture all the files.

(2) How does the syncoption command work ie :

  • syncoptions: The syncoptions flag specifies how a Synchronization will take place. To determine what value should be used, refer to the list at the bottom of this page. The value here must be a decimal representation of the sum of all applicable hex values. The simplest ones are syncoptions=0 (synchronize a remote folder to a local folder) and syncoptions=1 (synchronize a local folder to a remote folder)
  • Synchronize a remote directory to a local directory: "C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTPVoyager.exe" profile=YourProfileName autosync=1 syncoptions=1 local=C:\dat\ remote=/dat/ autoquit=1
  • Synchronize a local directory to a remote directory: "C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTPVoyager.exe" profile=YourProfileName autosync=1 syncoptions=0 local=C:\dat\ remote=/dat/ autoquit=1

The question is which one of these is right ?

Thanks

Stan

FTP Voyager -FTP for root directory

Hi,

I want to FTP synch every week to a synology box for backups.  I use windows task scheudler to start the vpn to my client, launch FTP voyager.

I have a few questions:

  1. is the remote direct of "/" acceptable in FTP Voyager Scheduler?  It appears to work then fails saying it needs admin priviledges (login is admin on the synology box)- logs are not sayign what happened
  2. Do I need FTP Voyager running when using FTP Voyager scheduler?- appears not except for email settings/notification
  3. is there a paid version?- I am reading posts where <build 16 was way better.  Since I am using this for business and FTP really is a simple protocol, i want support at my fingertips

FTP Voyager Scheduler hangs on jobs

$

Evidently this is a widespread problem according to the posts and Google searches.

I'm using version 16.1.0.0 and most scheduled 'Move Up' tasks just hang.

The log files show the Quit command multiple times but the process just keeps running, doing nothing except preventing other tasks from running.

The only way to fix it is to cancel the task, then start execution over.

Is there any planned resolution for this?

I've been trying to figure it out for several weeks, trying all sorts of different things, but obviously it's a program bug.

This is taking me several hours a week to log into client computers, clean up the task process and restart.

I'll give it until 9/1/14 then will look for an alternate product that works.

And I'll be sure to post my experience wherever I can so others don't have to deal with the same issue.

Can't duplicate automatic uploads from SmartFTP to voyager - scheduler

$

Hello, I am trying to duplicate move my old SmartFTP's application of cloning specifici files&folders from my office to my home PC (s) running Serv-U.

SmartFTP has a bottom pane queue to which I was dragging and dropping my specific files and folders (from offce pc's) and you could set various actions on them as queue items, schedule for custom times, set what action to do

when they complete, and setup precise FILE EXIST RULEs for the Target/Destionation.

e.g. IF Dest Time&Date Stamp EQUAL  AND SIZE smaller THEN RESUME

IF Dest Time&Date            OLDER and SIZE smaller THEN OVERWRITE

IF Dest Time&Date            EQUAL and SIZE equal THEN SKIP

IF Dest Time                     NEWER and SIZE equal THEN SKIP

After Invoking Voyager schedule Mgmnt screen don't know whether to choose Create NEW task or choose BACKUP,

but say I choose NEW TASK   It takes me to the GENERAL tab , which is good, I pick the target Serv-U and give the particular cloning task a name and a description.

Then it takes me to the ACTION -UPLOAD tab, in which has the two empty fields Remote Folder/File and Local.

The LOCAL has a Dropdown tab where it looks like I can select ONE file or folder, rather than use CTRL or something to multi-select.   On the other side I can't browse for the destination at all it has to be

manually typed(?)   Can't this be done in an easier way/

TIA

Joe

FTP Voyager Scheduler Move Down File Deletion Behavior

$
0
0

So the Move Down functionality in FTP Voyager Scheduler is not consistent with what one would typically call a file move operation.  Previously, in version 15 of FTP Voyager, a Move Down operation behaved like this:

  1. Get list of all files at destination.
  2. Copy remote file to local destination.
  3. Delete remote file.
  4. Go to next file on list.
  5. Continue until list is empty.

Now, however, version 16 behaves like this:

  1. Get list of all files at destination.
  2. Copy remote file to local destination.
  3. Go to next file.
  4. Continue until list generated at step 1 is complete.
  5. Delete all remote files at destination, regardless of what was contained in list generated at step 1.

Effectively it is just the Download and Delete Remote Path commands chained together.  This is a big problem for my automation, as I cannot guarantee that the folder won't have new files created in it during download operations #2-4, which will then ultimately get deleted by step #5.

So long story short, can the behavior be reverted to the v15 style of move?

Hi,

is it possible to run a schedules\ task remotely with or without CLI?
Is it possible to access FTP Voyager Client on a remote client via Internet browser?

I thank you for any advice.
