FTP Voyager failed after one-hour download

$

I have a scheduled task to download a txt from SFTP site with FTP Voyager.

However, the task met with error message ' The server has unexpectedly closed the connection.' when the download comes to one hour.

Tried the download with other tool like FileZilla. It's all OK.

Our FTP Voyager version is 16.2.0.328.

Does anyone have idea on such case?

uploading files using the scheduler has errors

Hello,

I have been going crazy attempting to upload files to another (Linux) server and I am getting errors.

once I figured out how to get the sites to show up when using the scheduler, i used the export and import rather then re-create accounts.

a users guide with examples would be really great!  i can find any such thing.

so the issue i am see is this...   I can connect using the browser and upload files with no issues.  when i use the scheduler, I have to specfiy the local and remote directories.  this is where things get interesting.  I am placed in a home directory on the remote side, so for the remote side I just use / and for the local side i click on the folder icon and navigate to the folder E:\folder\folder1  and I would assume that everything in folder1 would be uploaded.  Wrong! it tries to create the remotefolder2 and dose not have permissions and so it fails.  why is it trying to create folders?  in the help man, it says that the directory listed in the local and remote will grab everything in that folder and says nothging about trying to create that folder.  I just want to move files in that local folder1 to the remotefolder2.

the Actions I have tried so far is as follows:

Upload: "E:\localfolder\localfolder1" to "/"

Upload: "E:\localfolder\localfolder1" to "/remotefolder/remotefolder1/remotefolder2"

Upload: "E:\localfolder\localfolder1\*.*" to "/"

any trailing "/" or "\" are removed when you hit save.

when I add the /remotefolder/remotefolder1/remotefolder2 to the remote folder location, the error logs show it attempts to create remote directories remotefolder/remotefolder1/remotefolder2

I have changed the site profile advanced options \ file transfer \ transfer mode to Binary.

here is the thing i don't understand.  I can connect using the browser and see the remote site, and i can transfer files to and delete on the remote end with no issues at all and the logs are much smaller.  only when trying to use the scheduler is where things go goofy.

Problems with FTP voyager connecting to IIS 8.5 FTP server

I realize that the company has little incentive to worry about how their free FTP client inter-operates with a rival server product, but I wondered if anyone had any clues about my problems connecting to IIS FTP server.  (Long ago I purchased Serv-U for my now geriatric server, and once owned an actual purchased copy of FTP voyager back when it was a paid product.  But by the time moved to a new server, Serv-U went upscale and is way too expensive for my humble purposes.)

I get two types of error, which might or might not be related:

1) When uploading multiple files at once to the server, the connection always hangs on the second file after successfully uploading one file.  IIS log looks like this:

This is just uploading a bunch of random images to a folder called "transfer".  After the LIST command for the second filename (to see if it's already there), and another PASV command, everything poops out.

2) I get a lot of "SSL Accept Failed on FTP Data Channel" errors.  These pop up any time I try to upload a file when a file of the same name already exists in the destination folder; and also at random other times.  To get anything done, I need to delete or rename any file of the same name from the server first before uploading; and when the "SSL Accept ..." error pops up at other random times, I need to refresh the destination folder and try again, sometimes repeating this cycle several times.  Eventually it always works, but it's a pain.  The IIS log file for an attempt to upload a file which already exists, generating the "SSL Accept ..." error, looks like this:

It's not very informative.  It gets as far as verifying that the alternative filename is available, and then poops out.  IIS FTP server seems to have no more logging detail available.  It's not just a dumb-nuts firewall problem, since I can upload individual files one at a time in passive mode using the tricks mentioned above.

Any insight is appreciated.

Hi

I am trying to run Execute an ftp voyager scheduled sync manually,

This scheduled event syncs files from Pershing to a network location on our server

It looks like it works and ftp voyager scheduler does not spit out an error neither do I receive an email notification that sync has failed which I set up yesterday in the Event section of Task properties.

but when I go to the network share the files look like they have not been synced.

Passwords for the connections were changed on Saturday the 10th of November but since then I have entered the new passwords in FTP Voyager.

FTP Voyager does not work with Serv-U using FTP/FTPS protocols over TLS

We have had some complaints about connecting to our Serv-U server with FTP Voyager, because of these complaints I have decided to test it myself.

FTP Voyager version: 16.2.0.328

Serv-U version: 15.1.6.25

I don't have many SSL/TLS options for the FTP/FTPS protocols in FTP Voyager but it fails when it tries to read the SSL certificate. We use this solution:

Deploy Serv-U MFT in a cluster - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

This is the error:

FileZilla and FTP Voyager with the exact same settings, from the exact same computer, with the same user and at the same time. FileZilla works, FTP Voyager does not.

The log the Serv-U server shows when FTP Voyager wants to connect.

I have asked the Solarwinds support for help because we make use of their Serv-U solution but they do not support their FTP Voyager application, so they cannot help me.

Do you guys have any problems with FTP Voyager in combination with these solutions FTP explict FTP over TLS or FTP implicit FTP over TLS?

If yes, do you have any solution?

Question re:ServU FTP Voyager JV uploading files to different folders

I'm using ServU ftp/FTP Voyager JV to upload folders to one of our partners. The process is to upload folders into a folder on the partner side. We found that there were files placed in different folders after transmission. The client version is 15.1.7.162. The vm that I connected from was running Windows 10 using IE11. Doesn't seem likely, but I thought I'd ask if anyone else has ran into this.

SFTP Voyager Scheduler Script Error

I have created a Task in Scheduler and have tried executing this task however nothing happens. Typically directly following executing a task manually I click on the Schedular Log tab. When I do this I'm immediately presented with a pop-up window indicating a script Error. See image

I then check to see if the log file has any additional information. BUT no log file gets created and no files are sent. I am running the FTP scheduler service under a system account that has administrative rights. I've also made sure that I can connect to my SFTP server and that I can successfully manually upload files, it's all good. Lastly, I've made sure that I have the most recent version of Java running on Server 2012 R2.

Any help would be much appreciated.

After setting up a connection profile for a new client of ours and successfully connecting to their site, I am unable to upload files to their directory. The name of the directory that i'm attempting to drop the file into is XPO-UPLOAD-TEST.  I get the following error:

ERROR>   Cannot copy file: Destination /XPO-UPLOAD-TEST/testfile.xml is a directory.

The site that I am connecting to claims to have set permissions on this directory for us to Upload Only with no View. This means that immediately after uploading the file to this directory the ability to see the file disappears. When they turn the View permission on, I have no issues uploading the file. Unfortunately having this permission turned off is part of their security policy and they are not willing to change that.

Also, Filezilla uploads the file without issue.

Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Home directory not accessible

Hello,

I'm having trouble with this configuration. . .

Windows Server 2008R2 + Voyager 16.0.2.0 + FTP over TLS (implicit) + PASV + connection to Serv-U v6.4

I get this error is in the log:

COMMAND> PASV

227 Entering Passive Mode (70,89,1xx,1xx,7,209)     <== Note, this is the Serv-U IP address.

"ERROR> The home directory specified for this account on the remote server is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator for further assistance."

Things I've tested. . .

This works great (home directory displays, but not for Serv-U):

Windows Server 2008R2 + Voyager 16.0.2.0 + SFTP + PASV + connection to non-Serv-U servers

. . .and this works (home directory displays on Serv-U but using an older version of Voyager + Win7 instead of 2008R2):

Windows7 + Voyager 16.0.1.1 + FTP over TLS (implicit) + PASV + connection to Serv-U v6.4

I'm not using the Scheduler "as service" to do this testing - just the Voyager UI. I'm thinking I should try loading 16.0.1.1 on the 2008R2 server but hesitate because I'm afraid it could screw up the Scheduler that is running other jobs.

Any one have similar experience?

Thanks.

Doug

Sync Tool - Exclude files pattern syntax and meaning

$

Hi, I'm trying to understand how the "Exclude Files Pattern" in Sync Tools works.

I've used RegEx expressions, wildcards and so with no luck.

It works as expected when excluding patter is just one string, in this case all files/folders beginning with that string are omitted.

So first of all, I'd like to understand in general the kind of pattern syntax used by the sync tool, I couldn't figure it out.

What I'm try have is a condition to skip files/folders names that begin/contain/end with a given string...

I'd like to understand how to separate these conditions.

Thanks in advance for any tip

Francesco

FTP Voyage crashes constantly

Seems I can replicate this behavior every time by simply clicking the title bar while any transfer is in progress. It also happens when trying to view a downloaded file from the local browser. I'm using passive mode. The most common fault is:

Faulting application ftp voyager.exe, version 16.0.2.0, faulting module shlwapi.dll, version 6.0.2900.5912, fault address 0x00008440, but also happens on ntdll.dll, ftpvoyage.exe and "Unknown."

If I don't touch it, it seems to work, but almost any interaction with it after or during transfers crashes it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ron

FTP Voyager Synchronization Rate Limit

$

Good Morning:

We've been testing out FTP Voyager for a wireless product and it has all the features we are looking for. We are attempting to rate limit the synchronization process because this process chews up a tremendous amount of network traffic over the air (see attached screen shot). We are able to rate limit the file transfer process, however, we cannot find the parameter to rate limit the synchronization process. Is there a way to rate limit remote/local folder synchronization? If not, is there a universal rate limit that applies to overall traffic?

Thank you.

Passwords for the connections were changed on Saturday the 10th of November but since then I have entered the new passwords in FTP Voyager.

so I checked the logs below.

FTP Voyager Scheduler Hangs

$

We are using the scheduler to move files to a customer ftp server. The process just moves files, nothing else. Currently the task will run but hang, when we check the customer ftp server we can see files are transferred. But there is always zero length files. I assume these are the placeholder of the file to be transferred. Process will just hang after 5 or 6 files and the files that are transferred are not deleting from home directory. The files are only 2kb each so I can't imagine file size being the problem.

Is there a queue size limit on number of files that can be transferred? We have sometimes up to a thousand files that will need to be moved. Also does the process only delete after it has completed? We have seen it complete once or twice with about 40 files, but that is so random we can't call it an actual successful test.

Thanks

Jim

FTP Voyager Crashing

I have multiple users getting this crash in FTP Voyager:

Faulting application name: FTP Voyager.exe, version: 16.2.0.328, time stamp: 0x542c320b

Faulting module name: SHELL32.dll, version: 10.0.17134.1, time stamp: 0x75c40783

Faulting process id: 0x1f04

Faulting application start time: 0x01d480400b074d8c

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft\FTP Voyager\FTP Voyager.exe

Faulting module path: C:\windows\System32\SHELL32.dll

Report Id: 23c7bee2-035f-4439-aa16-24dd8572198b

Faulting package full name:

Faulting package-relative application ID:

The users are on Win 10x64 ver 1803 build 17134.

Voyager launches without an issue. Once in it, users can connect to different site profiles. As they are browsing folders, the application randomly crashes, usually while waiting for a  folder to load. It happens on multiple folders and does not always crash.

Does anyone have an idea what may be causing it?

FTP Voyager does not connct to my website

Hi, I've downloaded and installed the latest version of FTP Voyager.

When using the same login credentials that I have been using for years with WS_FTP12 (which connects just fine), Voyager cannot connect. It comes back with error messages (could not connect). I'm sure it's something that I did wrong but I don't know what it is. Can someone help me resolve this issue?

Also, is it possible to import all the WS_FTP sites that I have?

Thanks,

Ed

V16.2.0.328: Daylight saving bug still present, WTF?

As a veeery long time licensed FTP Voyager user since 2000 (And I have a V9.0.1.4 version still running on W2K without any troubles for years) my first choice for a new setup on W7 was FTP Voyager again. Of course.

But now I am very disappointed.

Until last friday every scheduled task (Nine tasks every day) everything was allright, but with the last weekend here in Germany the summer time came into game. And guess what, since Monday every task runs again and again for an hour and floods my mail account with failure mails.

I have tasks running once a day generating a single log for every day, before DST such a log had a size of 12kb, since monday they are growing up to 7,5megs and have about 397000 lines. For transferring ONE file!

Ok, it's a SFTP setup with key file authentication and this produces a lot of auth lines, but for sure not that much.

Hey Solar Winds, whats going on with your quality control? What to do now, re-generate every job and do that again every spring?
