FTP Voyager Scheduler Email

$

Hello,

I've been using FTP Voyager for a little over a year now. My event email notifications have always worked. All of the sudden about a month ago the email notifications come form Voyager have been sporadic and then not at all. I don't see anything wrong with my SMTP server seeing as everything else is coming through it (such as my web filter, firewall and other server notifications). It is only notifications from FTP Voyager. Is this a known error?

Thanks.

FTP Voyager Scheduler Empty Folder "Move Down" Bug & Possible Work-Around

$
0

I've been a long-time user of FTP Voyager, well before SW bought up RhinoSoft.  I even paid for it too, back in those days.  However, lately I upgraded to the new version, and found out that hey!  It's free now!  Cool!

However, all was not sunshine and roses.  I too have run into the FTP Voyager Scheduler empty folder bug, wherein you perform a "Move Down" command against an empty folder and it simply sits there.  In my case, it performs KEEP ALIVE tasks to hold the connection open.  Critically, because this task is still executing, it will not execute any of the other scheduled tasks.  See below for a log output.

[03] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - Getting "real path" name to keep connection alive (KEEP ALIVE)

[07] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - SSH_FXP_REALPATH: translating path: .

[08] Fri 05Dec14 14:15:49 - SSH_FXP_NAME: translated path: /

[03] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - Getting "real path" name to keep connection alive (KEEP ALIVE)

[07] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - SSH_FXP_REALPATH: translating path: .

[08] Fri 05Dec14 14:18:49 - SSH_FXP_NAME: translated path: /

I see that this is a known issue here on the forums, and that there are supposidly "bug fix requests" or something to handle it.  However, I have a problem with this NOW.

I believe I found a simple work around.  I chained a file upload to the destination folder first, uploading a single 1-byte file to the destination, and THEN performing the full folder move down.

This will always cause the remote folder to have something in it, and for then the task to complete successfully.  I then set up my local-side automation to ignore that file, and things were working.

Not exactly elegant, but it's working for now. :-/

Command line profile issues

$

KB Article #1140 mentions some command line options. Im having some trouble understanding some of it.

For "Transferring A File To A Server: "

profile line is: profile="Personal Site.My Site"

For "Downloading A File From A Server:"

the profile line is only : profile="My Site"

For "Synchronize a remote directory to a local directory"

its changed again to : profile=YourProfileName

In the "Site Profile Manager" I only have the option to add a "New Site" which I did. I only have the one site, and it is nested under the root. Somehow, Ive tried all of the different version of the syntax, and I always get "windows cannot find profile" errors. Could anyone be a little bit more descriptive about the command line syntax?

Where are FTP Voyager Scheduler actions stored on disk?

When I create an action, where is the configuration file stored on my hard drive? I am interested in programmatically modifying some of the action settings in the FTP Voyager Scheduler. For instance, if I put FTP Voyager on 5 computers and need to make a small modification to their settings, I would prefer not to have to go to all 5 computers to make this change. Instead, I could send an updated configuration file to each computer when I send out updates and the new settings will take affect, after perhaps requiring a reboot of the service.

Is this possible? Are FTP Voyager Scheduler settings or actions written to some .config/xml/.ini or other type of file?

Thanks!

Action failed (Last Error Message: )

In FTP Voyager I create a site profile under “Tool – Scheduler Site Profiles”. I’m able to connect to this profile and manually upload and manage documents. I created a Task in Scheduler to sync the remote folder using the profile I create. When executed I get the following error “Execution failed (Last Error Message: )”.

Why am I getting the error in Scheduler when I don’t making a direct connection?

Trouble sending large files to a Pure-FTPd Server

$

0

I have a connection set up to a server, all that is fine...

I can send smaller files just fine...

Larger files? It seems that the Command channel times out...

In the header of the Welcome message is a warning of a timeout at 3 minutes of inactivity...

So I dutifully setup a 150 second Keep Alive...

What I see in the log is...

The file (11GB+) sends fine...(Although there seems to be many reconnections during the transfer)

I will see an OPTS MLST command send

followed by a PWD and then a reconnection attempt...

Finally I will see a "Transfered <many> bytes STATUS message... Followed by an XCRC - which seems to receive no response after maybe 30 seconds...

Then another PWD...

Then an ERROR> Server has unexpectedly closed the connection...

And we start again....

Ideas?

FTP Voyager Scheduler: Run External Program doesn't work

I'm trying to run and external program from within an action. The Program to Run: C:\Windows\notepad.exe

From what I see in the Task Log, it appears everything worked.

[13] Mon 09Sep13 12:49:49 - (Action: Open Notepad) - Running external program: C:\Windows\notepad.exe

[13] Mon 09Sep13 12:49:49 - (Action: Open Notepad) - Action successfully completed.

[12] Mon 09Sep13 12:49:49 - (Task: Open Notepad) - Execution successfully completed.

[05] Mon 09Sep13 12:49:53 - QUIT

Except nothing happened.

I am using Windows 7, 64-bit.

BTW, if I put in an invalid path (C:\Windowsx\notepad.exe), the Task Log reports

[12] Mon 09Sep13 13:20:50 - (Task: Open Notepad) - Execution failed (Last Error Message: (0x2) The system cannot find the file specified.).

So it appears finding notepad.exe isn't the issue.

FTP Voyager SMTP Problems

Hi

I have set up the SMTP for the scheduler to use the smtp details for Office 365 which uses port 587. When the event attempts to run, I get an error saying

Unable to send message to xxxxxxxxxxx Unable to connect to SMTP server on port 25

1) Why is this failing?

2) Why is it saying it is using port 25 when I have told it to use port 587?

Thanks

[Feature Request] FTP Voyager - SCP support

$

0

Hello SolarWinds and FTP Voyager developers. I got a feature request. I am testing some FTP programs and like FTP Voyager sofar. But I am missing support for SCP (Secure Copy Protocol). I got some servers and a router. They support SSH login via putty. If I try to connect via SSH with FTP Voyager (or any other FTP client) I get disconnected. I also tried WinSCP with SSH. It disconnects also. If I switch from SSH to SCP in WinSCP, I can connect fine and transfer files without problems. But I do not want to have 2 or more programs installed and WinSCP has less features than FTP Voyager. Therefore it would be nice if you could add support for SCP.

FTP Voyager compatibility with Server 2012 r2

We are currently running FTP Voyager and FTP Voyager Scheduler version 15.2.0.15, on Server 2003 R2 SP2.   We are looking to upgrade the server to Server 2012 R2, and I need to know if the current version of 15.2.0.15 is compatible with 2012 R2, or if the current version of 16.1.0.0 is.  Thanks!

Can't duplicate automatic uploads from SmartFTP to voyager - scheduler

$

Hello, I am trying to duplicate move my old SmartFTP's application of cloning specifici files&folders from my office to my home PC (s) running Serv-U.

SmartFTP has a bottom pane queue to which I was dragging and dropping my specific files and folders (from offce pc's) and you could set various actions on them as queue items, schedule for custom times, set what action to do

when they complete, and setup precise FILE EXIST RULEs for the Target/Destionation.

e.g. IF Dest Time&Date Stamp EQUAL  AND SIZE smaller THEN RESUME

IF Dest Time&Date            OLDER and SIZE smaller THEN OVERWRITE

IF Dest Time&Date            EQUAL and SIZE equal THEN SKIP

IF Dest Time                     NEWER and SIZE equal THEN SKIP

After Invoking Voyager schedule Mgmnt screen don't know whether to choose Create NEW task or choose BACKUP,

but say I choose NEW TASK   It takes me to the GENERAL tab , which is good, I pick the target Serv-U and give the particular cloning task a name and a description.

Then it takes me to the ACTION -UPLOAD tab, in which has the two empty fields Remote Folder/File and Local.

The LOCAL has a Dropdown tab where it looks like I can select ONE file or folder, rather than use CTRL or something to multi-select.   On the other side I can't browse for the destination at all it has to be

manually typed(?)   Can't this be done in an easier way/

TIA

The Compare folders in the Synchronize feature does not appear to be working correctly.

Both local & remote files have identical datetime, size etc yet it shows the remote files are older?

The timezone for local & remote servers are the same. I even checked the milliseconds of these files and they are identical

Unless I tick Ignore Older the synchronise will continue to upload the same files every time.

Am running version 16.2.0.328
