Cannot sync between local and remote folders

In trying to set up synchronization between local and remote folders, I get the following error in the log:

13] Tue 01Jul14 10:53:59 - (Action: Synchronize domain.com to C:\backup) - Action failed (Last Error Message: Unable to synchronize folders: Could not retrieve additional information about the local path. Please make sure the path exists and the local user has permissions within the folder.).

I don't understand why as administrator is granted read/write perms across the board. Please advise, thank you.

FTP Voyager Scheduler Hangs

$

We are using the scheduler to move files to a customer ftp server. The process just moves files, nothing else. Currently the task will run but hang, when we check the customer ftp server we can see files are transferred. But there is always zero length files. I assume these are the placeholder of the file to be transferred. Process will just hang after 5 or 6 files and the files that are transferred are not deleting from home directory. The files are only 2kb each so I can't imagine file size being the problem.

Is there a queue size limit on number of files that can be transferred? We have sometimes up to a thousand files that will need to be moved. Also does the process only delete after it has completed? We have seen it complete once or twice with about 40 files, but that is so random we can't call it an actual successful test.

Thanks

FTP Voyager Scheduler not working (Ver. 16.0.2.0)

Hi

I've referred to here by FTP Voyager support.

This is my first time I use FTP Voyager for scheduling file transfer, configuring task was very easy, but I still cannot make it work.

In the task action, I created a new action to download a specific folder (and all files and subfolders inside that folder to my local PC

In action information, I put the (Remote File or Folder) as: /FolderName

Nothing downloaded, and error in the log says:

Execution failed (Last Error Message: Unable to perform file action: Could not retrieve additional information about the source path.  Does the source path exist?).

I changed it to: FolderName (without slash).

Nothing downloaded, and same error in the log.

I then tried: FolderName/*.*

Log says: Execution successfully completed.

But in the local folder, I found it only downloaded files from main folder (No subfolders or files inside them), and some of them with ZERO size !!!!!

Again, I tried: /FolderName/*.*

Log says: Execution successfully completed.

I found that the ZERO size problem has been solved (files downloaded with correct size) but still cannot get the subfolders !

In the forum, I found a link to the older version (ver. 15.2.0.19)

I downloaded and tried it on another PC, It works like a charm, with no errors !

Can anyone here help me to figure out how to make the scheduler download the whole content of remote folder ??

FTP Scheduler stopped working - could not retrieve additional information about remote path errors

I've had FTP Voyager and FTP Scheduler installed for many years.

On 11/2/2012 the scheduler stopped running nightly backups and now only generates errors when manually executing the jobs.

"Could not retrieve additional information about the local path. Please make sure the path exists and the local user has permissions".

This system has been setup for years and has not changed. The FTP Voyager can manually connect to the profile and I can download files from the server manually without problems.

The only major change to the system were recent FTP software upgrades and patches.

I've double checked the FTP Scheduler Profiles (which never changed passwords in the first place).

I've added a brand new FTP folder with new login password to the server which connects in FTP Voyager, but generates the same errors when manually executing a synch job in FTPV Scheduler.

And I've tried restarting the FTP Voyager Scheduler service and rebooting.

Also nothing has changed on the server and all the files and folders have full read/write access (and can be copied down manually from the FTP Voyager).

Its only when executing the job from within FTP Scheduler that it now fails with these messages and it started around 11/2/12.  But I can't recall on what dates I applied the FTP software patches and upgrades.

FTP Voyager Scheduler Hangs - Service Restart Required

$

I want to use FTP Voyager to upload data on a regular schedule from remote sites to my FTP server.  The application checks all of the boxes for what I need it to do: Upload all files in a folder, do some XCRC/XMD5/XSHA1, and then delete the local files after successful upload.  My problem is that the scheduled task seems to never complete sometimes and we stop receiving files.

The Internet connections for most of our locations frequently drop.  It seems this might have something to do with the problem.  My oldest installation has been running reliably since July and has a solid connection.  The scheduler hangs most frequently on sites with the worst connectivity issues.

I have implemented a klugey work-around by scheduling a task that restarts the Voyager scheduler service.  This keeps the problem from manifesting and we receive our files.

I set the following scheduler options:

  • connection timeout = 90
  • connection retries = 9
  • connection delay = 3
  • transfer send timeout = 90
  • transfer idle timeout = 5
  • file transfer upload file tries = 10

Scheduled task creation:

  1. I create a scheduled task that runs every 15 minutes.
  2. Add an action to run an external program.  This executes a batch file that moves files into a staging folder for the FTP transfer.
  3. Add a second action to synchronize remote folders.  This moves the files up to our FTP server.
    1. I add an event to this action that runs a batch file after upload.  The batch file is there to delete the uploaded file and is passed, "$LocalPath", as an argument.

This setup works perfectly well in my lab and at the site with the consistent Internet connection.  Other locations have been seen to work for days and even weeks, but eventually the scheduled task hangs until the scheduler service is restarted.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installation without scheduler

We are wondering about distributing FTP Voyager to members of certain teams within our company. However, for security we do not want to allow scheduling for most users. We try to keep all recurring jobs off workstations and on dedicated machines. Is it possible to install FTP Voyager without the scheduling component?

FTP Voyager Scheduler Version 15.2.0.1

Hi guys,

I purchased this product 7 years ago and have used many a version of this product. This program has worked flawlessly for quite sometime now until just recently. I added a new SFTP personal site and am able to connect with it no problem. I went into the scheduler and would like to add a new task. There is a requirement to pick one of your sites to associate the task with, but my new personal site doesn't show up. I didn't get any support from case number 616750 as their excuse is that "We cannot support you, since it is now a free product" I bet the guys at Rhinosoft would be quite ashamed at hearing that their paying customers are receiving service like that nowadays. Anyways has anyone encountered this issue with the scheduler?

Thanks in advance for any help.

How to use dates in filenames

$

Hello all,

We've been long time owners/users of FTP Voyager v16.1 and need to start uploading files that contain a date in the filename, as well as adding the date to files after they are uploaded. I'm having a very hard time getting this to work, even after reading through the Knowledgebase. I want to accomplish the following:

upload 2104-06-13_file1.txt --> /uploads/2104-06-13_file1.txt
Note the date shown in the filename above will change day to day.

upload file2.txt --> /uploads/2104-06-13_file2.txt
Note the source file does not have a date, but the destination does. The date shown in the filename above will change day to day.

I have my Scheduler Profile set up as follows:

Note:

  • scheduler profiles don't have the ability to specify a Local folder... so I have to specify the full path in the Scheduled Job Actions.
  • Only one rename is specified since I'm not renaming file1

And my Scheduled Job Actions (with full path for local files) are:

The logs of the job show thi

In both cases, Voyager thinks the destination filename is a folder... and of course those folders don't exist. For some reason, Voyager creates those folders and then deposits the files in them. In the case of File2, the date does not even get appended to the filename.

Can anyone explain to me where I've gone wrong? Thanks.

Alternates for FTP Voyager Scheduler

I am looking for alternatives to FTP Voyager Scheduler since it really isn't supported except by this group...which to me doesn't appear to be all that active, therefore timely responses when you need them probably won't be forthcoming.

Anyone have any leads to some good alternatives where the company that provides them actually provides support as well?

Thanks,

ftp Voyager Scheduler hanging

$

ftp Voyager Scheduler 16.1.0.0 is set to run many scheduled uploads, but on many of these uploads it appears to hang after completion, the log records the task as completed with the last lines reading:

Sent xxxxx bytes

Transfer time: 00:00:02.587

QUIT

221

but in the Scheduler task tab the task appears to be still running, this blocks all other tasks from starting and a user must manually abort the running task.

Anyone any ideas what might be happening here?

When did scheduled FTP tasks last run?

I have recently upgraded to v.16.1 of FTP Voyager. In v.15, you could quickly see, at a glance, when all of your scheduled FTP tasks were last run in FTP Voyager Scheduler. Is there a way to do this in v.16?

I much preferred the list format for FTP Voyager Scheduler of v.15. Displaying all the tasks as boxes in v.16 is less helpful imho. Is there an option somewhere that I am missing that allows you to switch back to a list format?

Thanks in advance.

"FTP Voyager has ceased to function"

I posted this several days ago and no help was forthcoming, but my timing may simply have been poor.  I also tried tech support at Solar Wind, but I only succeeded in annoying them, as they maintain they're not required to help me in any way.  I've been running FTP Voyager 16.1.0.0 on a laptop with Windows 7.  The program opens normally and functions correctly for maybe twenty seconds or so. Then, Windows opens an error message stating "FTP Voyager has ceased to function", and the program closes itself.  FTP is an integral part of my livelihood as a web designer, so this is naturally frustrating and time-consuming.  Does anyone have a clue what's happening, or what I might try to make the program function normally?  I probably won't kill myself over this, but it does cross my mind.

I have several tasks setup to run at different time intervals on a daily basis.

After the time change for Daylight Savings Time on Sunday morning the tasks run as scheduled and then stop and re-start continuously.

I have tried re-starting the service, updating the task scheduler time and re-booting the server all to no avail.

Has anyone else seen this or does anyone have any ideas on how to correct it.

I am on FTP Voyager version 16.0.2.0.

Never had this issue on any previous versions.

Is there a place to download version 15 again????
